When it rains, it pours for the Colorado Avalanche.
Devon Toews, a huge part of Colorado’s blueline and Cale Makar’s regular partner, will miss the game due to what the Avalanche are calling an illness. He was present at morning skate, but apparently didn’t feel well enough to play.
Toews took a massive hit in Game Two from Jamie Benn, but returned after going through concussion protocol. Again, the organization is saying this is due to illness, but I’m sure that’s going to be in the back of everyone’s minds.
This news, coupled with the news with Valeri Nichushkin, really puts the Avalanche behind the eight-ball this evening. Game Four is a must-win for Colorado, as they cannot afford to head to Dallas down 3-1 in the series.
If we get any further update on Toews, I’ll make sure to pass it on. Caleb Jones, who played Games One and Two in Winnipeg, will enter the lineup in the absence of Toews. The 26 year old defenseman played well early in that series, and they’ll need him to step up again on Monday night.
