Before the NHL hit their Christmas Break, we had not one, but two Michigan-style goals on the same night. One of them was from Connor Bedard, and the other was from Trevor Zegras, playing his first game back in a while. As it turns out, Zegras’ Michigan goal was a special present to a special young lady.
Because there is nothing happening in the land of the Colorado Avalanche, we’re going to take a peak at the worst contract currently in the NHL.
All that and more in this Tuesday edition of Evan’s Daily.
Trevor Zegras, Good Guy
Connor Bedard may have scored a sick Michigan goal on Saturday night, and to be honest, he gets bonus points for pulling it off on Jordan Binnington. However, the king of the Michigan goal in the NHL is Trevor Zegras. I found his goal to be far more impressive, mainly because he was moving at a much higher speed.
Either way, Zegras wanted to score that goal for someone, and he did exactly that. Take a look at the tweet below from Altitude Radio’s Vic Lombardi. What a guy Zegras is.
I met Quincy Rohrbach through the Morgan Adams Foundation. She’s a beautiful young lady with stage 4 cancer. Her favorite hockey player is Trevor Zegras. So, for Christmas week, Trevor invited Quincy to a practice where she was showered with gifts. And then Trevor did this… pic.twitter.com/VQoxs0HNUm

You gotta love it.
By the way, you all decide – which Michigan goal was better?

Worst Contracts In the NHL
There are always bad contracts in the NHL, but there’s on that is really sticking out in the league like a sore thumb.
Maybe not everyone assumed Jonathan Huberdeau would get it together in his second year with the Calgary Flames, but most figured he’d at least have a better year.
Nope, not happening, at least not right now.
Huberdeau is sitting with just 15 points in 34 games this year, which puts him on pace for 36 points. That’s brutal. And Calgary might be screwed with that contract. Huberdeau’s new contract with the Flames kicked in just this year, which means for this season (and seven more) he’ll take up 10.5M of their cap space. There is no getting out of that deal. When you google Jonathan Huberdeau contract, the buyout calculator is the first thing that comes up. That tells you all you need to know.
There are other bad ones as well, with the end of Marc-Edouard Vlasic’s contract looking particularly rough. You’ve also got Jack Campbell, who was so bad that even the Edmonton Oilers kicked him out of town. St. Louis also has some bad ones, with Binnington, Krug, and Parayko.
The Avalanche don’t have anyone that deserves to be on the list, but that might be because two teams are paying Ryan Johansen’s salary.
