Former Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord was viewed as a lock to end up at Nebraska, but things have changed considerably.

Despite earlier reports and betting odds favoring Nebraska, According to On3’s Pete Nakos, it will not be the Cornhuskers.

“Ohio State transfer quarterback Kyle McCord was on campus at Nebraska on Monday,” Nakos Said. “Coming out of that visit, multiple sources now tell On3 that McCord will be moving forward with his recruitment, keeping his options open and looking at another batch of schools. The Huskers will not be in the mix.”

What drove a 12-game starter from a powerhouse Big Ten school to want to leave remains a mystery. It may have something to do with him not getting an endorsement as the starter for next year after the Buckeyes lost to the Michigan Wolverines.

McCord is coming off a solid season as he completed 66.4-percent of his passes for 2,899 yards and 24 touchdowns with six interceptions. He spent two seasons backing up C.J. Stroud in Columbus and helped lead the Buckeyes to an 11-1 record in his one season as the starter.

Whatever the case might be, fans all thought the same thing about his decision to take Nebraska off his list as many brought up going all-in on 2024 five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola, who is currently committed to Georgia but is believed to be on the verge of flipping to Nebraska.

A change of scenery may be the best thing for McCord but now things get rather interesting as to where he might end up.
