The Jacksonville Jaguars have provided a quick injury update on superstar quarterback Trevor Lawrence, and it appears as though he avoided the worst-case scenario.
Lawrence was injured in the fourth quarter of the Jaguars’ Monday night home game against the Cincinnati Bengals and did not return. Backup C.J. Beathard finished the game, which Cincy won in overtime by a final score of 34-31.
Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the original diagnosis for Lawrence is an ankle sprain, though he’ll undergo an MRI on Tuesday for further clarity.
Even with the loss on Sunday, the Jaguars (8-4) still lead the AFC South division by essentially two games. They have the tiebreaker over both the Houston Texans (7-5) and Indianapolis Colts (7-5) with five games to go. The Jaguars have completed their season series with both clubs.
