Buffalo Bills’ star wide receiver Stefon Diggs made headlines last season when he snapped at quarterback Josh Allen during the team’s frustrating AFC Divisional Round loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
So his short-but-not-so-sweet outburst from Saturday’s game against the Chicago Bears is sure to jog back memories of what was one of the most disappointing postseason defeats in franchise history.
On Buffalo’s opening drive, Allen found his go-to receiver for a 10-yard pass to the Chicago 37. Diggs was visibly frustrated when he got tripped up on the catch, and it presumably led to him throwing his helmet after he got back on the sidelines:
There was speculation throughout the offseason that Diggs would seek a trade out of Buffalo. Trade rumors began to heat up when Diggs was absent for one of the club’s mandatory minicamp sessions, but all parties insisted that things are fine.
Last season, the 29-year-old Diggs had 108 catches for 1,429 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Coming off a second straight defeat in the Divisional Round, Diggs and the Bills will begin their quest for the franchise’s first Super Bowl championship when they visit Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets on “Monday Night Football” in Week 1.
