One of the most successful and accomplished movie directors of his era dropped an interesting message while hanging out with Kansas City Chiefs’ star defensive tackle Chris Jones.

Kansas City’s top defensive player is holding out with the hopes of landing a new contract. For every day he holds out, Jones is fined $50,000. At this time, there’s no indicator that Jones and the Chiefs are close to an extension.

Michael Bay, the director of several major Hollywood blockbusters like “The Rock” (1996), the “Transformers” series and “A Nightmare on Elm Street” (2010) posted two photos of himself hanging with Jones on Instagram.

Interestingly, Bay used the caption, “WOW just with my buddy CHRIS JONES …He just quit the TEAM !! Crazy.”

Jones is entering the final season of a four-year deal worth $80 million that he signed in 2020, a few months after helping the Chiefs to their first Super Bowl championship in 50 years. This past season, Jones played an instrumental role in helping Kansas City win its second Lombardi Trophy.

It’s easy to understand why Jones is looking for a new deal. He’s by far the league’s second-best defensive tackle after Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams. But via Spotrac, seven defensive tackles have a higher average annual value (AAV) on their deals than Jones ($20 million).

Jones had 15.5 sacks for the Chiefs last year, matching the personal best he set back in 2018.
