The Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl LVII last season and they head into the 2023 NFL campaign as favorites to win Super Bowl LVIII. And why not? Patrick Mahomes is still under center and his favorite pass-catching weapon in Travis Kelce is back in action. Head coach Andy Reid hasn’t yet opted for retirement, so the Chiefs’ nucleus remains intact.
Is another Lombardi Trophy in the cards for Kansas City this coming February? If not, which contenders have a chance of taking them down? Let’s take a look at some of the odds and best bets to be made on the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023.

Kansas City Chiefs 2022 season recap
The Chiefs were not exactly dominant during the regular season despite compiling a 14-3 record, as they frequently messed around with lesser opponents and went just 5-11-1 ATS against the spread. However, Patrick Mahomes and company were accustomed to winning close games heading into the playoffs and already being battle tested proved to be beneficial when it mattered most. Kansas City scraped past Jacksonville 27-20 in the divisional round, edged Cincinnati 23-20 in the AFC Championship and outlasted Philadelphia 38-35 in the Super Bowl.
Kansas City Chiefs 2023 NFL season predictions
As the odds indicate, Kansas City should be one of the best teams – if not the best – in the NFL. With Mahomes running the offense and Reid roaming the sidelines, you just know this franchise is always going to be in the mix. With the roster looking similar enough to that of recent years gone by, there is no reason to think the Chiefs will decline in 2023.
Here are couple of my K.C.-related predictions for the upcoming season.
Best bet: Kansas City Chiefs Over 11.5 wins (-140)
Even at a price of -140, the Chiefs going over 11.5 wins is a bet that has great value. Now that there are 18 weeks and 17 games for each club in an NFL season, asking the cream of the crop to pocket at least 12 victories really isn’t too much. A record of 12-5 is very good, but by no means is it anything crazy. Heck, Kansas City has reached the 12-win mark in 5 straight seasons (3 of those with only 16 games played instead of 17) and it has also reached 12 in 6 of the last 7. Looking at the schedule, the Chiefs’ road slate is friendly. They get to play the Bengals, Bills and Eagles all at home. I think they will go over their quota – and probably with room to spare.
Kansas City Chiefs season record predictions
As mentioned above, the over should be the way to go for this season. The defending Super Bowl champions may even go 14-3 or better, but I think the best bet is on 13-4. After all, the overall schedule is relatively difficult and if the Chiefs have already locked up the AFC West and their playoff seeding prior to the end of the regular season then they could give Mahomes and other starters some rest. A small play on Kansas City going exactly 13-4 at +500 odds seems like a good idea.
