There have been a lot of discussions about the future of Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields. The Bears traded up in the 2021 NFL Draft with the New York Giants to select the Ohio State product 11th overall. But, that was the old regime that made that move as general manager Ryan Pace and head coach Matt Nagy were replaced during the 2022 offseason.
Taking over their roles were Ryan Poles and Matt Eberflus. The first season of the new brain trust was a difficult one as the Bears went 3-14, landing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. One of the few bright spots from the season, however, was the performance of Justin Fields.
While there is still plenty of room to grow, especially as a passer, Justin Fields did make strides during his second season in the NFL. He looked more comfortable running an offense, showcasing improvements in the passing game and just how special of a talent he can be with the ball in his hands.
In 15 games, Justin Fields gained 1,143 rushing yards on 160 carries, scoring eight touchdowns. He fell just short of Lamar Jackson’s single-season rushing record for a quarterback and looks like he has a bright future in the Windy City.
