The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are one of the numerous teams that are going to be in the market for a new quarterback this off-season. Tom Brady announced his retirement again, leaving the Buccaneers with a huge void to fill under center.
Right now, the only quarterback that Tampa Bay has under contract is 2021 second-round pick Kyle Trask. Blaine Gabbert is a free agent and it is anyone’s guess if the team will bring him back for a fourth season. What is for sure is that the team will search high and low for other options.
The Buccaneers will certainly be linked to veterans such as Derek Carr and Jimmy Garoppolo. Given the current state of the NFC South, whoever addresses their quarterback position first could be considered the favorite to take home the division crown in 2023.
However, given their salary cap situation, it may be hard for the Buccaneers to fit a player of that caliber onto the roster. Right now, Tampa Bay has the worst cap situation in the NFL, more than $55 million over the cap.
