Good morning, Pickswise Nation, and welcome to another wonderful week of sports. The Astros vs Phillies World Series is set to start on Friday, but before that we have the final game of NFL Week 7 tonight, plus NBA, NHL and EPL soccer action. Let’s get straight to making your next bet better.
About Last Night
Phillies, Astros punch tickets to World Series
The 2022 World Series will be contested by the Phillies and Astros. The Phillies won their series against the Padres 4-1 with a 4-3 home win in Game 5, reaching the Fall Classic as a #6 seed and after finishing third in their division. The Astros finished the Yankees’ season with a 6-5 Game 4 win, completing a sweep in the ALCS. The Astros are -180 favorites to win the World Series.
Jets-Broncos SGP cashes at +1700 odds!
Some big-name quarterbacks and fancied teams were upset on the Sunday of NFL Week 7 with Tom Brady’s Buccaneers humbled 21-3 by the Panthers as double-digit favorites, while Aaron Rodgers and the Packers also fell to 3-4 with a 23-21 loss to the Commanders. The Jets soared to 5-2 by beating the Broncos 16-9 and cashing our Same Game Parlay on that game at +1700 odds! We also cashed our Seahawks vs Chargers SGP at +471 as the Seahawks became another big underdog to win outright.
6-1 day on NBA totals
We went only 3-4 on NBA spread picks on Sunday, but smashed the over/under totals with a 6-1 day for a 9-5 record overall. The Lakers fell to 0-3 with a 106-104 loss to the 3-0 Trail Blazers, while the Jazz also moved to 3-0 with a 122-121 point OT win over the Pelicans.
2-1 on NHL Best Bets
Again, it was a better day for us on totals in the NHL, with a 4-1 over/under record and 2-3 on sides. We went 2-1 on Best Bets, with the Red Wings beating the Ducks 5-1 and the Panthers seeing off the Islanders 3-2.
Today’s Slate
Patriots vs Bears on Monday Night Football
NFL Week 7 comes to a close as the Bears visit the Patriots in tonight’s Monday Night Football game at 8:15 pm ET on ESPN.
8 NBA games tonight
There’s a solid 8-game NBA slate tonight including 2 games on NBA TV, with Magic vs Knicks at 7:30 pm ET and Nuggets vs Trail Blazers at 10:00 pm ET.
NHL back in action
The NHL action continues with a 6-game slate starting at 7:00 pm ET and with Penguins vs Oilers at 8:00 pm ET on NHL Network.
Best Bet of the Day
NHL: Carolina Hurricanes 3-way ML over Vancouver Canucks
10:30 pm ET, ESPN+
The Canucks’ 5-game road trip to begin the season could not have gone much worse as they finished 0-3-2 and blew leads in each game. Then came a 5-1 pounding in their home opener by the mediocre Buffalo Sabres. Next up, they host a powerhouse Carolina Hurricanes team and another loss looks likely. Carolina has a 3-1-1 record and there aren’t many teams that will beat Carolina the way they are playing.
