Going into Sunday, Nolan Arenado has 30 home runs along with 102 RBIs, 42 doubles, 162 hits and a .293 batting average while Tommy Edman has a .261 batting average and 149 hits with 4 triples, 13 home runs and 56 RBIs. The Pittsburgh Pirates will try to keep the momentum going after their win over the Cards from Sunday’s game. Entering Sunday, Ke’Bryan Hayes has 121 hits and 24 doubles with a .244 batting average as well as 41 RBIs. Ben Gamel also has 42 RBIs while Michael Chavis also has 49 RBIs this season. Bryan Reynolds also has a team-high 26 home runs with 60 RBIs of his own and Jack Suwinski also has 18 homers this season. Oneil Cruz has also chipped in 17 home runs and 53 RBIs this year. Mitch Keller will start here and is 5-12 with a 3.92 ERA and 133 strikeouts this season.
The under is 4-2 in St. Louis’ last 6 games overall and 6-3 in their last 9 road games. Pittsburgh is 4-2 in their last 6 games overall and 6-15 in their last 21 home games.
I get the case to be made for the Pirates after getting one over on the Cardinals on Sunday and now St. Louis really should focus on getting healthy for their postseason push. However, Mitch Keller is a really hard pitcher to back, and when I tried earlier on in the season, he had a nice mini run, but regressed to the pitcher we’ve known to give up crooked numbers over the course of his career. I just see this as a spot where St. Louis could bounce back and get one past Pittsburgh so give me the Cardinals in the revenge spot.
