With New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones expected to miss some time, could a reunion with Cam Newton come together?

The rumor is starting to surface around Twitter, as Brenton Kelley reported on Sunday night that the Patriots are expected to “check in” on the former league MVP.

On Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported that Jones suffered a serious high ankle sprain in the Patriots’ Week 3 home loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Pelissero added that Jones will get a second opinion, but it’s unlikely that he plays in Week 4 against the Green Bay Packers.

With Jones likely to miss some time, plenty of folks on social media suggested that the Patriots bring back Newton, who spent the 2020 season as their main starting quarterback.
