The hold-in for Roquan Smith is over.

The Bears linebacker was back on the practice field Saturday for the first time during this year’s training camp. He confirmed after practice that he will play out the rest of his contract, set to expire after the 2022 season. Smith is in a ramp-up phase to play football, according to Bears coach Matt Eberflus.

Smith took part in all stretches and individual drills, but did not participate in team drills. Smith also didn’t join a three-station fumble recovery drill. It was a short, light practice for the Bears, who played the Seahawks in Seattle on Thursday night.
