The San Diego Padres and the Miami Marlins meet in MLB action from LoanDepot Park on Tuesday evening.
The San Diego Padres will be looking to rebound from a 3-0 loss at the hands of the Marlins in Monday’s series opener. Manny Machado has a team-high 124 hits with 28 doubles, 21 home runs and 70 RBIs while Jurickson Profar also has 26 doubles, 12 home runs and 47 RBIs. Jake Cronenworth has 3 triples as well as 23 doubles and 59 RBIs on the year. Sean Manaea will get the start in this one and is 6-6 with a 4.76 ERA and 122 strikeouts this season.
The Miami Marlins will look to build some momentum after their win over the Padres from Monday night. Jesus Sanchez has 61 hits along with 3 triples, 12 home runs, 33 RBIs and a .205 batting average. Jorge Soler has 13 doubles with 13 home runs of his own and Garrett Cooper has 87 hits, a .272 batting average and 24 doubles while Jesus Aguilar also has 93 hits of his own this season. Miguel Rojas also has 29 RBIs and 14 doubles and Avisail Garcia’s got 30 RBIs and 75 hits. Edward Cabrera will start here and is 3-1 with a 2.05 ERA and 29 strikeouts this season.
San Diego is 9-3 in their last 12 games against a team with a losing record and 2-6 in their last 8 road games while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 game two matchups. Miami is 8-20 in their last 28 games overall and 4-0 in their last 4 games against the NL West while the under is 6-0-2 in their last 8 games against a team with a winning record.
I get the case to be made for the over here as the Padres are capable of exploding offensively at any time, but I’m looking at the under here, mainly because the Marlins keep struggling to put up offense and Edward Cabrera’s been pitching well lately, but he’ll have to here to give the Fish a shot at winning this game. Give me the under here.
