The Milwaukee Brewers and the Pittsburgh Pirates meet in an NL Central division matchup in MLB action from PNC Park on Friday.
The Milwaukee Brewers will look to rebound from an 8-7 loss in Thursday’s series opener against the Pirates. Rowdy Tellez has 15 home runs and 48 RBIs while Hunter Renfroe has 13 homers as well and Willy Adames also has 15 home runs. Renfroe has a .247 batting average and Adames has 41 RBIs. Christian Yelich also has 73 hits with 11 doubles and 28 RBIs this season. Corbin Burnes will start here and is 6-4 with a 2.41 ERA and 119 strikeouts this season.
The Pittsburgh Pirates will look to make it two in a row over the Brew Crew after their win over Milwaukee last time out. Ke’Bryan Hayes has 67 hits and 15 doubles with a team-high .258 batting average as well as 25 RBIs while Daniel Vogelbach has 10 home runs and 24 RBIs. Ben Gamel also has 17 RBIs while Michael Chavis also has 25 RBIs this season. Reynolds also has a team-high 15 home runs with 31 RBIs of his own and Jack Suwinski also has 13 homers this season. Roansy Contreras will start this one and is 2-1 with a 2.76 ERA and 42 strikeouts this season.
Milwaukee is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall and 5-0 in their last 5 road games while the over is 7-1 in their last 8 game two matchups. Pittsburgh is 23-55 in their last 78 games against a team with a winning record and 31-69 in their last 100 division games while the under is 3-1-2 in their last 6 Friday games.
I get the case to be made for either side in this one, but truthfully, I’m on the under here. I think this is just shaping up to be a bit of a pitcher’s duel here as Burnes is the reigning Cy Young winner and Roansy Contreras has been a solid call-up for the Pirates up to this point. I think this one could be the first to 4 wins if we ever get there so give me the under in this one.
