The Seattle Mariners and the Texas Rangers meet in an AL West division matchup in MLB action from Globe Life Field on Saturday.
The Seattle Mariners will be looking to build on their 4-3 win over the Rangers from Friday’s matchup. Ty France leads the Mariners with 70 hits along with 7 home runs and 36 RBIs while Adam Frazier has 50 hits and 11 doubles. Eugenio Suarez also has 10 doubles with 10 homers of his own and 28 RBIs while J.P. Crawford has 52 hits, 5 homers and 10 doubles as well as a .297 batting average. Marco Gonzales will start here and is 3-5 with a 3.55 ERA and 29 strikeouts this season.
The Texas Rangers will look to rebound from their loss at the hands of the Mariners in this matchup on Saturday. Nate Lowe has 44 hits and a .260 batting average with 5 doubles while Adolis Garcia has 8 home runs and a team-high 32 RBIs. Corey Seager also has a team-high 47 hits, a team-high 11 homers and 25 RBIs and Brad Miller has 23 RBIs while Marcus Semien has 9 doubles and the aforementioned Garcia has a team-high 10 doubles as well on the year. Glenn Otto will start here and is 3-2 with a 4.33 ERA and 29 strikeouts this season.
Seattle is 11-23 in their last 34 games overall and 3-8 in their last 11 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games as a road underdog. Texas is 4-1 in their last 5 division games and 6-13 in their last 19 games as a favorite while the under is 9-4-1 in their last 14 games overall.
I get the reasoning for backing either side in this game, but I’m looking the way of the under here. Glenn Otto and Marco Gonzales aren’t the first two pitchers that come to mind when it comes to backing a lower-scoring game, here, but the fact is that both have been pitching better in recent starts, a lot better, and I think this could be a duel. Give me the under here.
