The Carolina Panthers had a great start to the 2021 season. Many felt that Matt Rhule had figured out how to turn the franchise around.
Sam Darnold had been brought in to lead the team, and the Panthers looked like they were playoff bound. Then Christian McCaffrey went down, there were other injuries, and the Panthers lost 12 of their last 14. They finished the season 5-12, and many were calling for a head coaching change.
Ownership kept Rhule on board, but he made numerous changes to his coaching staff. Many also blamed Darnold for the team’s poor performance, but he is tabbed to be the starting quarterback again.
The team did make numerous upgrades to their defense. They also worked on fixing their porous offensive line, including using the sixth pick in the draft on offensive lineman Ickey Ekwonu.
We’ll see if the improvements that they have made can help them improve in 2022 and that way you can bet against their NFL Team Totals odds.

And The Oddsmakers Say….
Now that the NFL win total predictions have been released, Las Vegas has stated that they think the Panthers will win 5.5 games this season. They don’t have a lot of faith in Matt Rhule and the changes that he has made.
Much of that is probably because McCaffrey has proven that he can’t stay healthy and Darnold will still be under center.
Here’s What 2022 Will Bring for the Panthers
Carolina may have one of the toughest early-season schedules in the league. They’ll open up hosting the Cleveland Browns. This will be a very dangerous team if Deshaun Watson is under center.
In Week 2, they’ll head to New Jersey to take on the Giants. Starting with Week 3, they’ll have a very tough stretch for the next few weeks.
They’ll host division rival New Orleans in Week 3. Next up will be another home game against the Arizona Cardinals. The Panthers have had good luck against both of these teams in the past, but we’re not sure how it will go this season.
In Week 5, they’ll host the San Francisco 49ers. If you haven’t figured it out yet, the NFC West is on their schedule this season, and Week 6 will take them to the defending Super Bowl champs as they head to LA to take on the Rams.
Their difficult stretch will end with a Week 7 game with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In Weeks 8 & 10, they’ll play the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons will surround a Week 9 date with the Cincinnati Bengals at Cincinnati.
Weeks 11 & 12 will see the Panther head to Baltimore to take on the Ravens and then host Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos. Week 13 will be their bye week.
Week 14 will see Carolina heading across the country to take on the Seattle Seahawks. They’ll then come back home to host the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Week 16 will bring the Detroit Lions to town. They’ll then finish their season with two divisional games on the road as they travel to Tampa Bay and New Orleans.
