The Colorado Rockies and the Washington Nationals meet in MLB action from Nationals Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Colorado Rockies will look to finish strong after salvaging a split in Saturday’s doubleheader, losing game one by a count of 13-7 before rebounding with a 3-2 win over the Nats in the second half on Saturday. Connor Joe has 47 hits and a .272 batting average with 6 doubles, 4 home runs and 2 triples. C.J. Cron has 57 hits with 10 doubles, a triple, a team-high 13 home runs and 37 RBIs while Ryan McMahon has 9 doubles and Charlie Blackmon has 38 hits with 6 home runs and 20 RBIs of his own up to this point in the season for the Rockies. Randal Grichuk also has 5 home runs and 25 RBIs as well this season. Jose Iglesias also has 10 doubles of his own and a .319 batting average on the year. Kyle Freeland will start here and is 1-4 with a 4.60 ERA and 40 strikeouts this season.

The Washington Nationals will try to bounce back after failing to complete the doubleheader sweep of the Rockies on Saturday. Cesar Hernandez has 56 hits with 13 doubles while Josh Bell also has 50 hits, 8 doubles and 25 RBIs with a .294 batting average. Maikel Franco also has 47 hits and 14 doubles of his own while Juan Soto has 9 doubles with a team-high 8 home runs. Keibert Ruiz also has 11 doubles and Nelson Cruz has a team-high 27 RBIs as well this season. Josiah Gray will start here and is 4-4 with a 5.44 ERA and 51 strikeouts this season.

Colorado is 7-19 in their last 26 games as an underdog and 27-64 in their last 91 games as a road underdog while the over is 10-3 in their last 13 games against the NL East. Washington is 14-37 in their last 51 home games and 4-10 in their last 14 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 10-2 in their last 12 games against the NL West.

I get the case to be made for the Nationals with Josiah Gray at home here, but he’s struggled in his last couple of starts at home and the Nationals just are not a team I’m looking to back long term if I’m being honest. Kyle Freeland’s had his own issues and the Rockies have not been good on the road, but there’s value to be had here I think with the Rox, so give me Colorado in this one.
