The Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox meet in MLB action from Guaranteed Rate Field on Sunday afternoon.
The Chicago Cubs will look to build on their 5-1 win over the White Sox on Saturday and will try to complete the sweep here. Willson Contreras has 33 hits and a .258 batting average while Patrick Wisdom has a team-high 10 home runs, 25 RBIs and 9 doubles on the year. Seiya Suzuki also has 21 RBIs and 12 doubles chipped in for the Cubbies up to this point in the year. Ian Happ leads the Cubs with 38 hits with a .268 batting average as well on the year. Marcus Stroman will make the start here for the Cubs and is 2-4 with a 4.71 ERA and 36 strikeouts this season.
The Chicago White Sox will be out to salvage a split from the quick two-game set after their loss to the Cubbies on Saturday. Tim Anderson leads the White Sox with 57 hits including 5 home runs, 19 RBIs, 9 doubles and a .354 batting average while Luis Robert has a team-high 6 home runs while Andrew Vaughn has 5 homers and 19 RBIs and Jose Abreu is also chipping in 19 RBIs. Dylan Cease will start here and is 4-2 with a 4.24 ERA and 71 strikeouts this season.
The Cubs are 1-4 in their last 5 interleague games and 4-9 in their last 13 game two matchups while the over is 6-2 in their last 8 games overall. The White Sox are 13-3 in their last 16 games against the NL Central and 10-4 in their last 14 games as a favorite while the under is 9-3-2 in their last 14 games against a team with a losing record.
I have gone back and forth on this game as the Cubs are not a terrible team but they can make it really hard to back them in spots while the White Sox are a solid team themselves, and I like Dylan Cease, but he’s struggled at home big time in his last couple of starts at Guaranteed Rate. I’m looking at the over here as I think the Cubs can get a few off of Cease and I think the White Sox offense wakes up in this one to push us over the number.
