Tennis Betting Preview for the 2022 ATP Geneva Open and Lyon Open

Gonet Geneva Open Player To Watch

Daniil Medvedev enters the 2022 Geneva Open as the current no.2 on the ATP rankings and is the top-seeded player in the tournament. However, while Medvedev is expected to dominate the field and claim the trophy, we have our eyes set on another player.

Casper Ruud, who enters Geneva Open as the current no.10 in the world, might not be considered one of the favorites, but he has all the tools needed to go all the way.

The Norwegian tennis star travels to Geneva following a fairly disappointing performance in Madrid, where he lost against Lakovic (6-7, 6-2, 4-6), but we wouldn’t overreact to that showing. Admittedly, Ruud has not achieved much this season, but he has shown enough.

He won the Argentina Open in February and has since produced mixed results. Most notably, Ruud could only reach R32 of Indian Wells, but he made the finals of the Miami Open. Then he reached R16 in Monte Carlo and went all the way to QF in Barcelona and in the Bavarian International.

Moreover, he is the defending champion of the Geneva Open, having won the tournament in 2021 when he beat Denis Shapovalov (7-6, 6-4). So despite his relative lack of success in 2022, Ruud should be considered a serious threat for the Geneva Open title.

Open Parc Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes Lyon Player To Watch

Open Parc Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes Lyon will feature a much weaker field than the Geneva Open, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that it offers plenty of excellent betting opportunities.

With the defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas not attending, all the eyes will be set on Cameron Norrie, who reached the finals in 2021 and is the only player in the field to reach the final stage of the Lyon Open before.

He is currently ranked no.11 in the world, ahead of Pablo Carreño Busta (no.18) and Gaël Monfils (no.21) as the top-three seeded players. And while any of the three can win, we have no reason to doubt Norrie.

Admittedly, Norrie has not been phenomenal this season, but he has had his moments. Norrie reached R16 in Madrid, QFs in Barcelona, R16 in Miami, and quarter-finals at Indian Wells. And if we look further back, Norrie was also in the finals of the Mexican Open, won Delray Beach Open, and reached QFs in Rotterdam.

Despite having only one tournament victory to his name, Norrie has looked good and deserves respect ahead of the Lyon Open. Although he has been a bit inconsistent with his performances, Norrie has delivered in some of the most significant events of the year and even claimed a few big scalps, so as long as he can keep the wind in his sails, Norrie should be bound for at least a top-four finish.

At the offered ATP betting odds, it’s hard to pass on Cameron Norrie to improve his showing from last year and win the tournament. Of course, he might slip, but there are very few players in the field who can cause him issues.
