The Milwaukee Brewers and the Pittsburgh Pirates meet in an NL Central division matchup from PNC Park on Wednesday.
The Milwaukee Brewers will look to build on their 12-8 win over the Pirates from Tuesday’s series opener. Willy Adames has team-highs of 4 home runs, 12 RBIs and 16 hits with 3 doubles while Andrew McCutchen, Christian Yelich and Hunter Renfroe each have 4 doubles with McCutchen logging 15 hits. Aaron Ashby will start here and is 0-2 with a 3.18 ERA and 13 strikeouts this season.
The Pittsburgh Pirates will try to bounce back after the loss to the Brew Crew on Tuesday. Ke’Bryan Hayes has a team-high 20 hits and 6 doubles with a team-high .364 batting average as well while Daniel Vogelbach has a team-high 3 home runs. Michael Chavis leads the Pirates with 8 RBIs and Kevin Newman and Ben Gamel each have 7 RBIs as well this season. Bryse Wilson will start here and is 0-0 with a 6.35 ERA and 6 strikeouts this season.
Milwaukee is 28-13 in their last 41 games as a road favorite and 6-2 in their last 8 games overall while the under is 5-0-2 in their last 7 games overall. Pittsburgh is 4-1 in their last 5 home games and 28-64 in their last 92 games against a left-handed starter while the under is 2-0-2 in their last 4 games as a home underdog.
I get the case to be made for either side in this one, as I’m not overly fond of the pitching matchup between Aaron Ashby and Bryse Wilson. That being said, I still like the over regardless because we saw these two offenses explode on Tuesday and that was with a better pitching matchup than what we had here with Woodruff and Keller on Tuesday and Ashby vs. Wilson here. I’m not sure we see 12-8 again, but I think this has potential to hit double-digits as well, so give me the over here.
