The Milwaukee Brewers and the Pittsburgh Pirates meet in an NL Central division matchup in MLB action from PNC Park on Tuesday night.
The Milwaukee Brewers will look to bounce back from a 4-2 loss at the hands of the San Francisco Giants last time out. Andrew McCutchen leads the Brewers with a .237 batting average and 14 hits while Rowdy Tellez has a team-high 3 home runs and shares the team lead in RBIs with Christian Yelich with 8 RBIs apiece. Yelich, McCutchen and Hunter Renfroe each have 4 doubles while Kolten Wong has a pair of triples. Brandon Woodruff will start here and 2-1 with a 4.30 ERA and 13 strikeouts this season.
The Pittsburgh Pirates will try to build off of their series win over the Cubs after a 4-3 win over Chicago in their last game. Ke’Bryan Hayes has a team-high 17 hits and 6 doubles with a team-high .327 batting average as well while Daniel Vogelbach has a team-high 3 home runs. Michael Chavis leads the Pirates with 7 RBIs and Kevin Newman and Ben Gamel each have 6 RBIs as well this season. Mitch Keller will get the start here and is 0-3 with a 6.23 ERA and 15 strikeouts this season.
Milwaukee is 4-1 in their last 5 road games and 28-13 in their last 41 games as a road favorite while the under 4-0-2 in their last 6 road games. Pittsburgh is 4-1 in their last 5 home games and 4-9 in their last 13 games following a win while the under is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record.
I get the case to be made either way here, but I’m looking at the Brewers here. I just don’t trust Mitch Keller as far as I can throw him personally and I’ve watched him get torched more than anyone that I can think of off the top of my head over the last season plus. Milwaukee’s offense can be sporadic, but I think they show up here to tee off on Keller and the Pirates here.
