Teams are making their final playoff pushes, as we enter the final week of the regular season. All eight playoff spots have already been decided in the East, but teams still have a shot at moving up or down in the standings. Out West, we have 10 teams still vying for a spot in the playoffs. Right now, only five teams have clinched a playoff berth, so this week’s games will have a lot riding on them. Let’s take a look at a couple of games with playoff implications that you may want to place a wager on the NHL Betting Odds.
After a Grueling Few Months, the Regular Season is Coming to an End | NHL Betting
Florida Panthers @ Boston Bruins – Tuesday, April 26th
There’s still a chance that the Boston Bruins could finish third in their division, but they need a lot of things to go their way. Their uphill battle starts on Tuesday night as they face the top team in the East, the Florida Panthers.
There is some good news for the Bruins in this one. Florida has already won their division and clinched the top spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs. They’ll more than likely be resting some of their top players, as this game doesn’t mean anything to them.
For Boston, this one means a lot. They would love to avoid one of the wild card spots, as then they’d have to play either Carolina or Florida. Unfortunately for the Bruins, they have some injury issues right now that may harm their chances of getting out of one of the wild card spots. With injuries to David Pastrnak and Hampus Lindholm, the Bruins chances of winning when they need to take a huge hit.
There’s a very slight chance that Boston could get out of a wild card spot, and an even slighter chance that they could get to second in their division. In order to do that, they’d have to win the rest of their games while Toronto would have to lose all of theirs.
Las Vegas Golden Knights @ Dallas Stars – Tuesday, April 26th
Right now, the Knights are on the outside looking in. Dallas is currently the second wild card team. Only four points separates these two teams in the standings, so every game is important for both of them. This one is especially important, as a loss for the Knights would be a big detriment to their playoff chances.
Things don’t look real bright for the Knights at the moment. Goaltender Robin Lehner will miss the rest of the season with a lower-body injury. Lehner is scheduled to undergo surgery this week. The good news coming out of this is that rookie goalie Logan Thompson has won five of his last six starts. He has a .938 save percentage in those six starts. This could be the spark that the Knights really need to propel them into the playoffs.
With the Knights being two points out of a playoff spot with just four games remaining, they need to catch a lot of breaks.
