We’re continuing to hear about meeting that the Kansas City Chiefs have had during the pre-draft circuit, with the latest news coming out of Austin, Texas.
Speaking to reporters after his pro day workout on Thursday, Texas TE Cade Brewer named three teams that he met with during the Hula Bowl. That group included the Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers per The Football Brainiac beat reporter CJ Vogel.
A fifth-year senior in 2021, Brewer is more of that H-Back type of player that the Chiefs have been intrigued by over the years. He excels as a blocker in the backfield, on the wings and in-line. He has also been a red zone target for the Longhorn’s offense throughout his career at Texas with eight receiving touchdowns during his career.

Brewer ran a 4.8s 40-yard dash, benched 20 reps of 225 and jumped a 32.5-inch vertical at his pro day. Those numbers would have tied eighth, fourth and ninth for his position at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine.
In what is perceived to be a deep tight end class, the Chiefs seem to be doing a lot of work on Day 3 and priority free agent targets. Even with seven players at the position currently under contract, it’s clear that they’re hoping to find a diamond in the rough at the position that they can develop in their offense.
