The Vancouver Canucks and the New Jersey Devils meet in NHL action from the Prudential Center on Monday night.

The Vancouver Canucks will look to build on a three-game win streak after a 5-2 win over the Rangers last time out. J.T. Miller leads the Canucks in scoring with 59 points including a team-high 20 goals and 39 assists while Quinn Hughes has 41 points with 37 assists. Conor Garland also has 14 goals this season with a total of 30 points and Luke Schenn has a team-best +14 plus/minus. Bo Horvat’s also added 29 points with 17 goals of his own and Elias Pettersson has 38 points with 17 goals and 21 assists for Vancouver this year. Thatcher Demko’s seen the majority of action between the pipes for the Canucks, going 23-16-2 with a 2.61 GAA and a .918 save percentage this season.

The New Jersey Devils will try to bounce back from an 8-5 loss to Chicago in their last game. Jesper Bratt leads the Devils in scoring with 48 points including team-highs of 18 goals and 30 assists while Damon Severson has 30 points with 7 goals and 23 assists. Dawson Mercer has 29 points with 12 goals and 17 assists and Nico Hischier has 33 points with 14 goals and 19 assists this season. Jack Hughes also has 36 points with 15 goals and 21 assists this season.

Vancouver is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall and 5-0 in their last 5 Monday games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. New Jersey is 5-16 in their last 21 games against a team with a losing record and 0-5 in their last 5 Monday games while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall.

I get the case to be made both ways here, as the Devils have won 11 straight against Vancouver. However, my case is that all streaks are meant to be broken and Vancouver is a lot better now than they were for most of those 11 games. The Canucks are also playing the far better hockey right now and New Jersey can’t keep the puck out of the net. Give me the Canucks in this one.
