A year ago today, happy parents Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Matthews welcomed Sterling Skye Mahomes into the world.
The happy family is set to celebrate Sterling’s first birthday today and Year 1 has been filled with some special memories. She got to join her mom and dad at Royals games, surprise Patrick with his Madden NFL 99 club announcement, and attend her first NFL training camp. Before she could even walk she received a soccer scholarship offer at Texas Tech.
Sterling got to cap off her exciting first year by watching her dad compete at the Pro Bowl. During the all-star game, Mahomes spoke to ESPN sideline reporter Lisa Salters, who asked about what it has been like being a dad to Sterling.
“Oh, it’s been awesome,” Mahomes said of being a dad. “You know, she’s at that stage now where she’s almost walking. She has a personality. She knows how to say ‘no’ a lot. So I’ll have to get used to that. So, it’s definitely awesome to have them all out here.”
The little one certainly had some memorable moments in her first year. Chiefs fans, of course, are hopeful that next year Sterling will get to experience watching her dad play in the Super Bowl for the first time.
