On national signing day, many teams are locking up their rosters for next season. It is never too early to look at our favorite teams for next year. Who will be our favorite to win the National Championship? It should be no surprise to see who the four favorites are next season. Let’s get right to it so you can plan your bets against the College Football National Championship odds.
Really Early College Football Playoff National Championship Favorites
Favorite To Win
With the current best odds, the Alabama Crimson Tide are the “really early favorite” to win the National Championship. This year’s runner-up is now the favorite once again. This comes as no surprise, as Alabama is typically the favorite or second favorite for most of the offseason.
Alabama has +200 odds currently, 150 points better than the second-best team, Georgia. Last season the Crimson Tide finished with a record of 13-2 and won the SEC Championship. They beat an undefeated Georgia team at the time. However, Georgia got the last laugh, winning the National Championship a month later.
Alabama will bring back quite a bit from their offense this last season. The “million dollar quarterback” and the reigning Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young will be back for another season with Coach Saban.
Bryce Young threw for over 4,000 yards last season. Along the way to winning the Heisman Trophy, Young had a touchdown to interception ratio of 47:7. Forty-seven touchdowns and seven interceptions is incredible for the freshman.
Second Favorite To Win
As mentioned earlier, the Georgia Bulldogs are the second favorite to win the National Championship. Georgia won their third National Championship and their first since 1980. It was the story of the walk-on and Stetson Bennett after he led the Bulldogs to a National Championship.
The National Champions held a record of 14-1 in the 2021-22 season. The only loss was suffered to Alabama during the SEC Championship game. The Bulldogs will be looking to go back-to-back, which would be the first time in CFP history.
As mentioned, Stetson Bennett, the former walk-on led the Bulldogs for most of the season and played great in the championship game. Bennett threw for almost 3,000 yards last season and added 29 touchdowns to his stats as well.
Georgia will have JT Daniels coming back to lead the offense. Daniels was supposed to be the guy before dealing with injuries. He will have his chance to shine next year and lead the defending champs through the season.
Third Favorite To Win
Our third favorite to win is the Ohio State Buckeyes. It was a down year for Ohio State last year. The Buckeyes did not win the Big Ten Championship and lost to their rivals the Michigan Wolverines. That right there will have the Buckeyes fired up for this next season.
The struggles last year pertained to the defense for Ohio State. They could not stop the bleeding and get stops when they needed to. C.J. Stroud will be back for another season, possibly making another case for the Heisman Trophy.
The Buckeyes have +550 odds to win the National Championship.
Fourth Favorite To Win
When speaking of a down year, this team had a down year. The Clemson Tigers have the fourth-best odds to win the National Championship next season. Completing the three of four teams that have dominated the College Football Playoff since it started, Clemson is looking to be back in the hunt after an off-season.
It was the first season without Trevor Lawrence at quarterback, and you could tell. D.J Uiagalelei struggled to get the offense going. He threw nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions last season. Not to mention the outrageous amount of sacks he suffered. Clemson will have to build up the offensive line to find success.
Clemson has +1,000 odds to win the National Championship.
