Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies have been one of the best stories of the 2021-22 NBA season to this point. Having that feeling of the “little team that could,” the Grizzlies are one of the most inexperienced-experienced teams in the entire league.

They may only have three players on their roster with at least 6 years of NBA playing experience and they may be the second or third youngest team in the league, but the Grizzlies look like a team that has been playing together for years!

Dillon Brooks, Kyle Anderson, Brandon Clarke and first-time All-Star Ja Morant have all missed large chunks of the season due to injuries and health protocols at times, but Memphis has played with a “next man up” mentality all season long and as a result, they find themselves as the 3-seed in the Western Conference at 35-17 on the year.

They may currently be sitting behind the Phoenix Suns (40-9) and the Golden State Warriors (37-13) for the best record in the entire NBA, but the Grizzlies are the only team in the league this season to have beaten both the Suns and the Warriors on the road.

Memphis is one of the best teams in the league this season and while they really do not need to make any changes to their roster, the trade deadline could be a means to them acquiring another star-like player.

Experience and firepower are the only two things that separate the Grizzlies from the Suns and Warriors at the top of the Western Conference standings right now. It is unlikely that GM Zach Kleiman and the Grizzlies’ front-office will look to make a franchise-altering move, especially given all the success they have been having, but Pascal Siakam is a very intriguing name that they could have their eyes on.

Now in his 6th NBA season, Pascal Siakam is a former All-Star, a former All-NBA performer, he was the 2018-19 Most Improved Player and is a proven champion with the Toronto Raptors. There are no indications that Toronto is looking to move Siakam ahead of the trade deadline this season, but his name has been brought up in rumors from time-to-time dating back to the offseason.

Having rookie Scottie Barnes and OG Anunoby at the forward positions, the Raptors could get away with leveraging Pascal Siakam now for a ton of future value, something they are lacking right now outside of Barnes, Anunoby and Trent Jr. on their roster.

Could the Memphis Grizzlies shock the NBA world by trading for Toronto Raptors big man Pascal Siakam? Let’s take a look at a hypothetical trade proposal put together by Bleacher Report’s Grant Hughes that could make this deal a reality.
