When the Washington Wizards made the trade with the Chicago Bulls to acquire Danial Gafford, there was a lot of excitement in the early goings of the situation about his defensive impact. He even earned a three-year, $40.2 million contract in the process. Now, could he land in NBA trade rumors as the Feb. 10 deadline nears?

Gafford currently finds himself not receiving any playing time on a nightly basis now that Montrezl Harrell and Thomas Bryant both are available to play. Trying to play all three big men became a challenge for Wizards coach Wes Unseld Jr., so he opted to remove Gafford from the rotation.

“Trying to play the three bigs, it became very choppy. I know the guys didn’t like it, I didn’t necessarily like it,” Unseld Jr. said, via Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington.

Unseld Jr. did mention that his current center rotation as the plan is to “give it a stretch and see how it goes.”
