Manchester United have confirmed they have reached an agreement to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo – 12 years after one of the club's favourite sons left Old Trafford.

The deal progressed very quickly on Friday, with United making it known that they had stepped into the race to sign the Portuguese captain after he made it clear to Juventus that he wanted to leave the club.

Ronaldo will join on a likely two-year deal, for an initial fee in the region of €15m and €8m in additional add-ons.
