Baltimore Ravens fans are trying to keep defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald on their team by any means necessary.

Macdonald has been one of the hottest names among NFL coordinators this season. The second-year defensive coordinator has helped turn the Ravens’ defense into one of the most potent in the league.

Macdonald has been interviewed by a few squads with head coaching vacancies, including one NFC team that’s also after Bill Belichick.

The interest in Macdonald has prompted fans to spread wholesome fake rumors to dissuade other teams from hiring the 36-year-old rising star. Macdonald has been humorously accused of handing out vegetables during Halloween as well as leaving shopping carts in his grocery store parking space. The man also apparently hates puppies.

One fan even crafted an entire “true story” about an unsavory encounter with Macdonald at a grocery store.

Macdonald was recently asked if he was aware of the hilarious fake rumors about him being spread by Ravens fans. The Ravens staff member revealed that his wife filled him in on the lighthearted trend. (:38 mark).

“My wife sent me a couple. … There are some good ones out there but not many. But yeah, I am aware,” said Macdonald.

The Ravens ranked first in several defensive categories during the 2023 regular season. They’re the best in the league at points allowed per game (16.5), yards allowed per play (4.6), sacks (60), and passer rating allowed (74.6).

Macdonald may very well deserve a head coaching job next season. But teams will have to overlook the fact that he steals pennies from wishing wells.
