PICKWISE

Good morning, Pickswise Nation, and welcome to another wonderful Wednesday of sports. We have football, baseball and hockey action today, so let’s get straight to making your next bet better.

About Last Night

  • The Phillies put on a show in Game 2 of the NLCS, crushing the Diamondbacks 10-0 to take a 2-0 series lead. The D-backs are now +560 odds at FanDuel to turn it around and reach the World Series but it’s not looking good as the Phillies continue to mash. The same goes for our cappers, as we cashed the Phillies ML and the over on the game and extended our MLB props run to a phenomenal 10-1!
  • Our NHL team also had a profitable day, going 6-5 on our Tuesday game picks. The Avalanche reached 3-0-0 with a 4-1 win over the Kraken, but the Golden Knights are still a step ahead at 4-0-0 after a 3-2 shootout success over the Stars.
  • There’s college football action every day through Saturday this week, and we started with a 2-1 night on Tuesday. Liberty won but failed to cover in a 42-35 victory over Middle Tennessee.

Today’s Slate

  • We have MLB picks for tonight’s ALCS game at Globe Life Field as the Astros bid to halve their 2-0 deficit against the Rangers at 8:03 pm ET on FS1.
  • There are also NHL predictions for today’s 2 games including Penguins vs Red Wings on TNT at 7:30 pm ET.
  • It’s not the highest-quality college football slate of the week but there is intrigue as 0-6 Sam Houston State tries for a first win of the season against Florida International at 7:00 pm ET on CBSSN. You can read all our NCAAF predictions for the Week 8 games.

Best Bet of the Day

NHL: Ottawa Senators 3-way ML over Washington Capitals (-105, DraftKings)
7:00 pm ET, ESPN+

The Ottawa Senators are riding a 2-game winning streak as their rebuild seems to be finally paying off. The Sens have scored 10 goals in their last 2 games, but much of their success this season will hinge on the performance of their goaltenders and Joonas Korpisalo is coming off a strong performance against the Lightning. The Capitals, on the other hand, are seeing their competitive window continue to close on them. Their core is another year older, and they are slowing down.  The youthful Senators play the game at an extremely fast pace and that could expose the Capitals. Read our full Capitals vs Senators predictions.

Stat of the Day

The Texas Rangers are 7-0 in the MLB postseason.

Quote of the Day

“We’ve got a lot of firepower. We’ve just got a bunch of studs one through nine, man.”

— Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola is loving the run support he’s getting from his teammates.
