Good morning, Pickswise Nation. We have NBA, NHL, college football and college basketball to enjoy today, so let’s get straight to making your next bet better!

About Last Night

Clevta goes 2-0 on TNF
Falcons vs Panthers wasn’t the most exciting Thursday Night Football matchup of the season, but they all look a lot better when you win and Clevta’s 2-0 night on his TNF best bets of Panthers +3 and under 44.5 points both cashed comfortably. The Panthers won 25-15 for their second win in 3 games under interim coach Steve Wilks, while the Falcons fell to 4-6, handing the lead of the AFC South to the 4-5 Buccaneers.

Heat made to sweat by Hornets
It was not a great night for favorites in the NBA as the Mavericks, Heat and Pelicans all failed to cover, although the Hawks took care of business in a 104-95 home win over the 76ers. The Heat did come through for their money line bettors, but needed overtime to beat double-digit underdogs the Hornets 117-112.

Bruins, Golden Knights, Devils march on
The Boston Bruins reached 12-2-0 with a 3-1 win over the Flames, the Vegas Golden Knights stayed ahead at 13-2-0 by beating the Sabres 7-4, while the Devils stayed close behind at 11-3-0 with a 4-3 overtime win over the Senators.

2-0 night on college football
It was a small Thursday CFB slate but out cappers went 2-0 ATS with their picks of Memphis -6.5 and Louisiana -3 as they scored wide-margin wins over Tulsa and Georgia Southern respectively

Today’s Slate

8 NBA games tonight
After a quieter Thursday, we have an 8-game NBA slate tonight, with ESPN showing Timberwolves vs Grizzlies at 9:30 pm ET while NBA TV has Nuggets vs Celtics at 7:00 pm ET.

Lightning vs Capitals on NHL Network
There are just 4 NHL games today but NHL Network is showing Lightning vs Capitals at 7:00 pm ET.

Friday night lights are on
There’s college football action tonight, with #8 USC hosting Colorado at 9:30 pm ET on FS1. East Carolina plays Cincinnati on ESPN2 at 8:00 pm ET.

Gonzaga and Villanova in action
It’s the biggest slate of college basketball since opening night on Monday, with games including Michigan State vs Gonzaga at 6:30 pm ET on ESPN and Villanova vs Temple on ESPNU at 7:00 pm ET.

Best Bet of the Day

NCAAB: Gonzaga -11.5 over Michigan State Spartans
6:30 pm ET, ESPN

Michigan State and Gonzaga face off on Friday night for one of the most marquee matchups of college basketball’s opening week. This game will feature two Hall-of-Fame coaches in Tom Izzo and Mark Few, and the game will be played on USS Abraham Lincoln carrier ship in San Diego, California. Over the past two seasons, Michigan State has not been the same dominant program that we have seen over the last 20 years under Izzo. They have had 13 losses in their past two seasons and have failed to finish above 7th in the Big 10. I expect much of the same from them this season while I expect another deep NCAA Tournament run from Gonzaga.
