Eagles go to 8-0 but don’t cover
The NFL’s only unbeaten team, the Philadelphia Eagles, did what was necessary to maintain that status with a 29-17 win over the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football. It was not what was required for favorite-backers, though, as the Eagles failed to cover the 14-point spread. Our NFL props expert Bobby “Prop Holliday” Stanley went 2-0 on the game. With another road win on their record, the Eagles are +500 odds to win the Super Bowl at FanDuel Sportsbook, behind only the +230 Buffalo Bills.
Astros take charge of World Series
The Astros are a win away from becoming MLB champions after going 3-2 up on the Phillies in the World Series with a tight 3-2 win in Game 5 in Philadelphia last night. After claiming back-to-back road wins, the Astros are now -550 odds with DraftKings Sportsbook to win the title, with the Phillies out to +450 odds. The Astros are -150 to finish it by winning Game 6 at home tomorrow night, with the Phillies +130 to force a Game 7.
NBA champions lose again
NBA champions the Golden State Warriors lost their 4th straight game and went to 0-5 on the road this season with a 130-129 loss to the Orlando Magic last night, having been favored by 8.5 points for the game. The Nuggets comfortably covered a 6-point spread in a 122-110 win over the Thunder.
Bruins, Golden Knights reach double digits
The Boston Bruins and Vegas Golden Knights became the first teams in the NHL to reach 10 wins this season, with the 10-1 Bruins beating the NY Rangers 5-2, while the 10-2 Knights won 5-4 against the Senators. The Devils scored 3 late goals to rally from 3-1 down and beat the Oilers 4-3.

12 NBA games tonight
After a quiet Thursday, we have a 12-game NBA slate tonight, with ESPN showing Bulls vs Celtics at 7:30 pm ET and Bucks vs Timberwolves at 10:00 pm ET.
Avalanche take on Blue Jackets in Finland
The NHL heads to Finland today as the Colorado Avalanche play the Columbus Blue Jackets in Tampere, Finland. The game is being shown on NHL Network at 2:00 pm ET. Back at home in North Carolina, the Hurricanes host the Sabres at 7:00 pm ET on ESPN+.
Friday night lights are on
There’s college football action tonight, with #23 Oregon State visiting Washington on ESPN2 at 10:30 pm ET. Duke plays Boston College on the same channel at 7:00 pm ET.
Huge weekend of horse racing at the Breeders’ Cup
The elite Breeders’ Cup meeting sees the world’s top horses competing at Keeneland over the next 2 days, and we have predictions for all the big races.

NBA: New Orleans Pelicans -4.5 over Golden State Warriors

Golden State is just 3-6 and has lost all 5 road games so far, covering the spread just twice in 9 games. The success-hungry Pelicans will welcome the challenge, especially after giving away a game against the Lakers a couple of nights ago. A lot of people are saying the Warriors are done but it’s still early to make statements like that. Things aren’t looking great though, and last night’s game at Orlando wasn’t easy, so there could be some tired legs out there in this second game of a back-to-back for the Warriors. The Pelicans should get the job done at home.
