Chicago Cubs vs Los Angeles Dodgers 5/8/22 MLB Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs meet Sunday in MLB action at Wrigley Field. The Los Angeles Dodgers look to build on their five-game winning streak. The Chicago Cubs need to snap a four-game losing streak.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have scored 22 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last seven games. The Dodgers have won 15 straight games when scoring four or more runs. Freddie Freeman leads the Dodgers with 30 hits and 12 RBI, while Trea Turner and Mookie Betts have combined for 49 hits and 33 RBI. Walker Buehler gets the ball, and he is 3-1 with a 2.12 ERA and 26 strikeouts this season. Buehler is 0-2 with a 4.56 ERA and 21 strikeouts in his career against the Cubs.

The Chicago Cubs have scored five runs in their last three games and three or fewer runs in eight straight games. The Cubs have lost 12 of their last 13 games when scoring three or fewer runs. Nico Hoerner leads the Cubs with 24 hits and 11 RBI, while Seiya Suzuki and Ian Happ have combined for 43 hits and 27 RBI. Marcus Stroman gets the ball, and he is 1-3 with a 5.13 ERA and 22 strikeouts this season. Stroman is 1-0 with a 2.77 ERA and 14 strikeouts in his career against the Dodgers.

The Dodgers are 52-20 in their last 72 Sunday games and 64-24 in their last 88 overall. The Cubs are 16-36 in their last 52 home games and 1-6 in their last 7 overall. The under is 10-4 in Dodgers last 14 overall. The over is 13-6-2 in Cubs last 21 home games. The Dodgers are 2-7 in the last 9 meetings in Chicago and 4-0 in the last 4 meetings.

I get the appeal of the Chicago Cubs at home in a prime time game with Stroman on the mound. However, Stroman has been a disappointment up to this point, allowing 24 hits and 15 earned runs in 26.1 innings. The Cubs’ offense has also been dead pretty much all season. The Los Angeles Dodgers are rolling, and they have a consistent pitcher on the hill in Buehler, who hasn’t allowed a run in his last 14 innings. It’s hard to get behind the Cubs here. Give me the Dodgers and the RL for max betting value.
