After the bad news we just gave you about Irv Smith Jr., it’s time to balance things out a bit with some significantly better news.

According to Mike Golic Jr. of ESPN, your Minnesota Vikings and star safety Harrison Smith have agreed to a four-year, $64 million contract extension that makes Smith the second-highest paid safety in the National Football League.

Smith is now the longest-tenured member of the Vikings, having been drafted by the team with the 29th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame. Smith has been one of the best safeties in the NFL for a very long time, and arguably the best. . .frankly, I’m one of the people that would argue on his behalf on that one.
