Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce doesn’t sound like a man mulling over his retirement just yet.

The Chiefs star spoke to reporters on Tuesday following the first day of mandatory minicamp held at Missouri Western in St. Joseph, Mo. Kelce gave a passionate response when asked about how many years of pro football he has left in him.

“I’m still a little kid when I come into this building, man. I know I’m 34, about to be 35. But I have a love to do this right here in the middle of the heat in June. I love coming to work every single day and doing this. I’m going to do it until the wheels fall off and hopefully that doesn’t happen anytime soon,” said Kelce.

Kelce acknowledged that he’s “towards the end of the road” and has several opportunities outside of football waiting for him. He added that he wants to make sure that he’s “set up” to make the transition when the time comes.

Kansas City recently restructured Kelce’s contract, a move which fired up Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The 4-time All-Pro received a significant raise over the next two seasons.

Kelce appears to be putting off retirement for now. But it’s only a matter of time before the 34-year-old follows in his brother Jason’s footsteps.

If Jason Kelce’s post-football career is any indication, Travis would probably still find ways to enjoy himself away from the gridiron.
