About Last Night

Dodgers win 9th straight game
The Los Angeles Dodgers are the hottest team in baseball right now and they made it 9 straight wins with a 6-2 home win over NL Central Division leaders Milwaukee. The Brewers weren’t the only first-placed team to lose, though, as the Orioles lost 10-3 to the Padres. The Braves had no issues, though, marching on with a 5-0 win over the Yankees.

Today’s Slate

Another 15 MLB games today
There is a full slate of baseball coming our way today, starting at 1:10 pm ET with the Tigers vs Twins game on MLB Network, while Amazon Prime is showing Braves vs Yankees at 7:20 pm ET.

Best Bet of the Day

MLB: Under 8.5 runs in Detroit Tigers vs Minnesota Twins (-115)
1:10 pm ET, MLB Network

The Twins beat the Tigers 5-3 on Tuesday night, doing all of the damage in a single inning, and otherwise it was not a great game for the offenses and there should be 8 or fewer runs scored again today. Reese Olson and Kenta Maeda face off in a repeat pitching matchup from their game 6 days ago. Both guys turned in solid starts and the final score was 3-0, with Detroit winning. It was the best start by Olson in a long while, but Maeda has been rolling nicely. Another low-scoring meeting between the teams looks like a solid bet.

Latest NFL news and odds

Week 2 of the NFL preseason is only a day away now and it’s been a busy week of news, with free-agent RBs Ezekiel Elliott and Dalvin Cook finding new homes in the AFC East with the New England Patriots and New York Jets respectively, while the Colts have named rookie Anthony Richardson as their starting QB and Brock Purdy is QB1 in San Francisco. There’s also good news for Broncos fans, with RB Javonte Williams on course to make his return from injury this week.

The Chiefs are +600 odds Super Bowl favorites at FanDuel Sportsbook, with the Eagles at +800 and the Bills, Bengals and 49ers at +1000. The Eagles are 3.5-point favorites for tomorrow’s preseason home game against the Browns.

Stat of the Day

Angels starter Reid Detmers has allowed 14 runs in 6.1 innings over his last 2 starts.

Quote of the Day

“He is global, the best to ever play our sport. And he’s humble.”

Philadelphia Union manager Jim Curtin could only applaud the phenomenal Lionel Messi after his team’s 4-1 Leagues Cup semifinal loss to Inter Miami.
