A surprise team in the Western Conference has been linked to Chicago Bulls’ veteran star guard Zach LaVine.

The 28-year-old LaVine has been widely mentioned in trade rumors this summer, though he hasn’t outright requested a trade from the organization. That said, Chicago is surely willing to listen to proposals if the right one(s) come along.

On the latest edition of the “Locked on Jazz” podcast (h/t Josh Buckhalter of Heavy.com), David Locke proposed the idea of the Utah Jazz trading for LaVine:

“With three years left in the deal, maybe [LaVine]’s a better option for the Utah Jazz than what we’ve been talking about because of the fact you got three years of him you know if you trade for Zach LaVine you got three years. I actually think you improve your asset base if you go get Zach LaVine.”

The Jazz began a rebuild last summer by trading away All-Stars Rudy Gobert (to the Minnesota Timberwolves) and Donovan Mitchell (to the Cleveland Cavaliers). But with plenty of draft capital and young assets, Utah is in good position to make a move for a star player (or two) of LaVine’s caliber.

In 77 games last season, LaVine averaged 24.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. For his career, the two-time All-Star has averaged 20.5 points per game while shooting 46.5 percent from the field and and 38.4 percent from downtown.
