PICKWISE

Good morning Pickswise Nation, and welcome to another super Sunday of sports. We have an early start to today’s MLB slate and a ton of afternoon action, and there’s also NFL preseason, EPL and NASCAR on the agenda today, so let’s get straight to making your next bet better.

About Last Night

MLB parlay cashes for second straight day
One of the few things in life that’s better than an MLB parlay win is an MLB parlay winning streak and Pickswise now has one of those going after we followed Friday’s +528 odds MLB parlay win with a Saturday success at reduced odds of +235 as the Astros and Rangers won while the Reds’ game was rained out. Both of those legs cashed comfortably as the Astros beat the Angels 11-3 and the Rangers beat the Giants 9-3. but they were far from the biggest winners of the day as the Braves battered the Mets 21-3.

Today’s Slate

Braves vs Mets on Sunday Night Baseball
We have a 15-game Sunday MLB slate today including a doubleheader between the Reds and Pirates. The action starts early with Tigers vs Red Sox at 12:05 pm ET on Peacock and running through to Braves vs Mets on Sunday Night Baseball at 7:00 pm ET on ESPN.

There’s NFL, soccer and NASCAR too
The first full week of the NFL preseason has produced some interesting insights already and we have more action today with Chiefs vs Saints and 49ers vs Raiders on deck. The EPL opening weekend continues with a couple of interesting matchups in Brentford vs Tottenham and Chelsea vs Liverpool, so be sure to check out our soccer picks. There’s also a NASCAR race and we have expert advice for NASCAR’s Verizon 200 at the Brickyard.

Best Bet of the Day

MLB: Washington Nationals ML over Oakland Athletics
1:35 pm ET

The Nationals can complete a sweep against the Athletics this afternoon after winning the first two games of the series 8-2 and 3-2. The Nats hit lefties at the 4th-best rate in the league despite being one of the worst offenses in baseball overall. The A’s have scored only 2 runs in each game of this series and their lefty starter is Ken Waldichuk, who has been very up and down and rarely gives his team 5 full innings. The Nats should get to him early.

Stat of the Day

The Chiefs have won 5 of their last 6 preseason games, while the Saints have lost 3 straight preseason openers.

Quote of the Day

“It was a lack of execution starting with myself. I definitely could have done better.”

First overall draft pick Bryce Young had a tough first outing for the Panthers in a 27-0 loss to the Jets.
