The Philadelphia Phillies and the San Diego Padres meet in game two of the NLCS from Petco Park on Wednesday.

The Philadelphia Phillies will look to turn the series on its head after taking an early series lead with a 2-0 win over the Padres from Tuesday’s series opener. Kyle Schwarber went 2 for 3 with a solo home run and Bryce Harper added a solo shot of his own as the lone scoring the Phillies would do in the win as Philadelphia mustered up just the three hits as a team in the win with the rest of the team batting 0 for 23 with 8 strikeouts. Zach Wheeler got the win after tossing seven innings of one-hit shutout ball with eight strikeouts. Aaron Nola will get the start here and has allowed just an unearned run across his two playoff starts this season.

The San Diego Padres will try to bounce back after a disappointing offensive showing in Tuesday’s loss. Wil Myers had the lone hit for the Padres with the rest of the Padres going 0 for 26 with 9 strikeouts in the losing effort. Yu Darvish ended up with the loss after allowing both runs on three hits with seven strikeouts over seven innings of work. Blake Snell will start here after picking up the win over the Dodgers in his last playoff start.

Philadelphia is 6-1 in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record and 4-1 in their last 5 road games while the over is 7-1 in their last 8 games against a team with a left-handed starter. San Diego is 4-1 in their last 5 home games and 5-0 in their last 5 games following a loss while the over is 6-2-1 in their last 9 playoff games.

I get the case to be made for the Padres at home, but the Phillies continue to burn me when I fade them and I think this is a great spot for them to take a commanding lead. Aaron Nola’s been shutdown so far in the postseason and he was really pitching well down the stretch. Blake Snell did a good job turning his season around, but he’s already had one outing where he got roughed up and I don’t think he’s going to have a long leash here. I look for the Phillies to win a close one here, so give me Philadelphia in this one.
