The Atlanta Braves (65-46) and Boston Red Sox (54-57) wrap their season series with the 2nd game of a 2-game interleague set Wednesday. First pitch from Fenway Park will be at 7:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Braves vs. Red Sox nickname odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Braves lead 2-1

The Braves snapped their 3-game losing skid by beating the Red Sox 9-7 in the series opener Tuesday. Atlanta had dropped 4 of 5 games to the New York Mets and had lost 5 of their last 6 contests overall before traveling to Boston.

The Red Sox have lost 5 of their last 6 games after dropping 3 of a 4-game set against the Kansas City Royals in their previous series. They’re 10th in runs scored this season but rank 25th in team ERA.

Braves at Red Sox projected starters

RHP Kyle Wright vs. RHP Nick Pivetta

Wright (13-5, 3.22 ERA) makes his 22nd start. He has a 1.17 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9 and 8.7 K/9 through 128 2/3 IP.

  • Gave up more than 3 ER for the first time since June 23 when he allowed 6 runs on 7 hits (4 home runs) against the Mets Thursday.
  • The Braves are 15-6 in his 21 starts this season, including 7-1 in his last 8.

Pivetta (8-8, 4.51 ERA) makes his 23rd start. He has a 1.34 WHIP, 3.3 BB/9 and 8.7 K/9 through 123 2/3 IP.

  • Has given up 7 ER in his last 10 innings, with the Red Sox losing each of his last 2 starts.
  • He hasn’t earned a win in his last 4 starts at home dating back to June 19.

Braves at Red Sox odds and lines

  • Money line (ML): Braves -150 (bet $150 to win $100) | Red Sox +122 (bet $100 to win $122)
  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Braves -1.5 (+105) | Red Sox +1.5 (-130)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 9.5 (O: +105 | U: -130)

Braves at Red Sox picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 6, Red Sox 4

Money line

The Braves were -170 on the ML Tuesday with RHP Charlie Morton on the mound against LHP Rich Hill, and they cashed by beating Boston 9-7 in the 11th inning. The Red Sox hung around despite a poor start from Hill, but I think the Braves have an even bigger edge with Wright on the mound.

Considering their 15-6 record in his starts, I like their chances to beat Boston on the road. Bet the BRAVES (-150).

Run line/Against the spread

The Braves are 6-1 straight up in their last 7 games at Fenway Park. The Red Sox score an average of 0.98 fewer runs per game against righties than they do lefties, so this isn’t a matchup that favors their strengths, either.

I like the BRAVES -1.5 (+105) to cover the run line and you’re getting them at plus-money as an added bonus.

Over/Under

The total has gone Over in 5 of the Braves’ last 6 games and in 4 of the last 5 Red Sox contests. Pivetta has struggled in his last 2 starts and at least 10 total runs have been scored in 6 of his last 7 starts.

Bet the OVER 9.5 (+105) at the hitter-friendly Fenway Park.
