The Washington Nationals and the Chicago Cubs meet in MLB action from Wrigley Field on Wednesday afternoon.

The Washington Nationals will look to keep the momentum going after their 6-5 win over the Cubs from Tuesday’s matchup. Cesar Hernandez has 99 hits with 22 doubles while Maikel Franco also has 80 hits and 15 doubles of his own. Keibert Ruiz also has 18 doubles and Nelson Cruz has 52 RBIs as well this season. Lane Thomas also has 10 home runs and 35 RBIs while Yadiel Hernandez has 38 RBIs as well this season. Josiah Gray will start here and is 7-8 with a 4.92 ERA and 122 strikeouts this season.

The Chicago Cubs will look to get some measure of revenge after falling short in Tuesday’s game against the Nationals. Willson Contreras has 84 hits, 16 home runs and a .253 batting average while Patrick Wisdom also has 20 home runs, 52 RBIs and 22 doubles on the year. Ian Happ also has a team-high 101 hits with 26 doubles of his own and a .274 batting average while Nico Hoerner has a .292 batting average and 93 hits as well on the year. Justin Steele will start this one and is 4-7 with a 3.67 ERA and 97 strikeouts this season.

Washington is 15-40 in their last 55 games overall and 31-65 in their last 96 road games while the over is 4-0-2 in their last 6 games overall. Chicago is 6-1 in their last 7 home games and 7-1 in their last 8 games against the NL East while the under is 7-1-1 in their last 9 home games.

I get the reasoning for Chicago being favored at home as the Nats haven’t looked all that great recently and Josiah Gray’s really struggled in his last few starts. However, Gray’s also been a menace on the road and in day starts for much of this season, much better than his starts at home and at night. I’m just honestly not in a spot where I want to lay juice with the Cubs or chase any sort of run line here. I’ll side with the Nationals in this one.
