The Houston Astros and the Seattle Mariners meet in an AL West division matchup in MLB action from T-Mobile Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Houston Astros will try to complete the sweep after their 3-1 win over the Mariners in Saturday’s game. Entering Saturday’s matchup, Michael Brantley has 70 hits with a .288 batting average while Yuli Gurriel has a team-high 25 doubles and Alex Bregman has 78 hits with 20 doubles, 12 home runs and 49 RBIs. Yordan Alvarez has a team-high 27 home runs and 63 RBIs and Kyle Tucker has 18 home runs and 62 RBIs as well this season. Jeremy Pena also has a .263 batting average with 13 home runs and 35 RBIs of his own this season.  Framber Valdez will get the start here and is 8-4 with a 2.66 ERA and 102 strikeouts this season.

The Seattle Mariners will try to salvage something from the series after their loss to the ‘Stros on Saturday. Going into Saturday’s game, Ty France leads the Mariners with 97 hits along with 11 home runs and 49 RBIs while Adam Frazier has 79 hits and 14 doubles. Eugenio Suarez also has 18 doubles with 16 homers of his own and 50 RBIs while J.P. Crawford has 82 hits, 5 homers and 17 doubles as well as a .265 batting average. Julio Rodriguez has also chipped in 18 doubles, 16 home runs and 52 RBIs for Seattle on the year. Robbie Ray will start here and is 8-6 with a 3.54 ERA and 135 strikeouts this season.

Houston is 9-2 in their last 11 Sunday games and 17-4 in their last 21 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 3-0-2 in their last 5 Sunday games. Seattle is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a team with a left-handed starter and 22-4 in their last 26 games overall while the over is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games against a team with a right-handed starter.

I get the case to be made either way here, but I’m firmly on the under. We had a solid pitching matchup between Verlander and Gilbert on Saturday and I think we have an equally enticing matchup on Sunday as Framber Valdez has been consistent all year long and Robbie Ray’s looked like the Cy Young winner the Mariners were expecting to get when they signed him in the offseason in his performances in the last month. A similar 3-2 kind of scoreline wouldn’t surprise me here, so give me the under.
