The Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Angels meet Friday in MLB action from Angel Stadium. This will be the second installment in a four-game weekend series. In the opener Thursday, the Jays pulled off a three-run win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Toronto played a couple versus the Cardinals this week, losing Monday before an 8-1 blowout win in the Tuesday game. On Thursday versus LA, the Jays managed three runs in the third on the way to a 6-3 win. Starter Hyun-jin Ryu lasted 5.0 innings with two earned on six hits and a walk.

For the starter gig in the Friday game, the Blue Jays will go with Alek Manoah. Across his eight starts this year Manoah is 5-1 with a 1.62 ERA. In 50.0 innings he’s got 35 hits, nine earned, nine walks and 43 Ks.

Over on the Angels’ side, they split a pair with the Rangers this week: a 5-3 win Tuesday and a 7-2 loss Wednesday. On Thursday, Los Angeles had nine hits in the loss. Shohei Ohtani went 6.0 frames in the start with five earned on six hits and a walk.

Chase Silseth will take the mound for the Angels on Friday. In two starts this year Silseth is 1-1 with a 2.61 ERA. In 10.1 innings total he’s got three earned on seven hits and four walks with 10 Ks.

The Blue Jays are 5-2 in their last seven Friday games and 36-15 in their last 51 in game two of a series. Toronto is 2-7 in their last nine road games.
Meanwhile, the Angels are 12-4 in their last 16 at home and 20-43 in their last 63 Friday games. The under is 5-0 in LA’s last five Friday games.

PICK: I’m going to stay with the Blue Jays. Manoah has been on a nice run for most of the year. In his last two outings, he’s got 14.0 innings with just two earned on 12 hits and zero walks. As for Silseth, his first start (6.0 innings; one hit; no earned) was much better than his second start (4.1 innings; there earned). That said I think he’ll do fine here as well. Should be a fun matchup, but overall I think the Jays have the advantage win-wise.
