  • When: Saturday, May 7

Ryan Rozicki -350 vs Yamil Peralta Jara +275

  • 10-Rounds WBC International Cruiserweight Title

Canadian boxer Rozicki is 14-1 with 14 TKO or KO victories. The knock against the 27-year-old is that he’s fought almost exclusively in Canada.

Yamil Peralta Jara has fought exclusively in his native Argentina. Both boxers have decent enough skills to win this. But Rozicki uses his body better while Peralta seems to move forward in a straight line.

Rozicki is very good at closing the distance. If Peralta Jara must fight moving backwards, a real possibility, he’ll be in trouble. The chalk wins.

Boxing Pick: Ryan Rozicki

  • Jose Soto +375 vs Joselito Vasquez -550

Both fighter head into this bout with very good records. Jose Soto is 15-1 with 6 knockout victories. Soto lost his last bout, but that was via disqualification.

Joselito Vasquez is 14-0-1 with 9 knockout wins. Vasquez has the edge because he trains and fight in Mexico, where the gyms are fantastic, while Soto trains and fights primarily in Colombia.

Like most Mexican trained boxers, Velasquez is a terrific body puncher. On Saturday night, Velasquez wears down Soto and takes the victory.

Boxing Pick: Joselito Vasquez

  • Aaron Silva -135 vs Alexis Espino +105

Aaron Silva is 9-0 with 6 knockout victories. The chalk in this has an interesting high-guard that allows him to block punches from his opponents. But because Silva doesn’t tuck his elbows into his chest, his punches don’t land as straight as they should.

Alexis Espino was 9-0 until he drew against Rodolfo Gomez in his last. This should be a close fight. But although Espino has a chance, he doesn’t fight with his hands close to his face. Instead, he leaves his hands low. So even though Silva’s punches aren’t always straight, the chalk shouldn’t have trouble landing. Silva wins.

Boxing Pick: Aaron Silva

  • Christian Gomez +500 vs Shakhram Giyasov -400

The favorite in this bout, Shakhram Giyasov, has a dynamite 12-0 record with 9 knockout wins. No doubt, Giyasov should offer the lower odds.

But although Giyasov is the favorite, Christian Gomez has a real shot to hand Giyasov his first loss. Gomez is 22-2-1 with 20 knockout wins. Gomez hasn’t lost since 2019. The odds make the challenger an overlay.

Boxing Pick: Christian Gomez

  • Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela +500 vs Montana Love -600

Montana Love is an excellent boxer. The chalk in this fight is 17-0-1 with 9 knockout victories. In his last bout, Love beat then 29-1 Carlos Diaz.

Love didn’t just beat Diaz. He knocked him out in the third round. Montana destroyed arguably the toughest opponent of his career. But although Love should be the chalk, on Saturday he fights a boxer with physical advantages.

Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela is 5’ 10”, 2 inches taller than Love. Not only that, but Valenzuela has a 4 ½-inch reach advantage. Although Valenzuela has lost twice in 28 bouts, the last loss happened in 2017.

If Valenzuela uses his reach, he should have no trouble keeping Love at bay. When Love moves forward, Valenzuela should have a chance to catch him with a quick 1-2 or possibly an uppercut. Love can win, but he’s not a -600 favorite. Grab the overlay odds on the challenger.

Boxing Pick: Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela
