The Colorado Rockies (10-6) continue a four-game set against the Philadelphia Phillies (7-10) Tuesday with a 6:45 p.m. ET first pitch at Citizens Bank Park. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Rockies vs. Phillies odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Tied 2-2

The Rockies dropped the series opener 8-2 Monday to even their record at 2-2 on their current road trip.

The Phillies scored just 7 runs in a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers over the weekend, but the bats woke up Monday.

Rockies at Phillies projected starters

RHP German Marquez vs. RHP Zach Eflin

Marquez (0-0, 4.67 ERA) makes his fourth start. He has a 1.39 WHIP, 1.6 BB/9 and 6.8 K/9 through 17 1/3 IP.

  • Faced the Phillies Wednesday in his last start and allowed 4 ER and 3 HR in 6 IP.
  • Making his first road start of the year; he struggled away from home last season, putting up a 5.38 ERA in 14 starts.

Eflin (0-1, 3.95 ERA) makes his fourth start. He has a 1.39 WHIP, 2.0 BB/9 and 7.9 K/9 through 13 2/3 IP.

  • Allowed 4 ER in 5 2/3 IP against the Rockies at Coors in his last start Wednesday but recorded 16 swinging strikes among his 86 pitches.
  • Tossed 4 scoreless innings against the Oakland Athletics April 10 in his lone home start so far this season. This comes on the heels of a 2021 season in which he had a 3.02 home ERA across eight starts, compared to a 5.12 ERA on the road.

Rockies at Phillies picks and predictions

Prediction

Phillies 6, Rockies 3

Money line

Marquez has really struggled to miss bats in the early going. He has had a swinging strike rate of 12% or better in each of the past four seasons but it’s down to 6.9% through three starts to start this year.

Colorado has won four of six games on the road this season, but this is a team that had a 26-54 mark away from home in 2021. Look for the PHILLIES (-165) to make it two in a row.

Run line/Against the spread

Six of Philadelphia’s seven wins this season have been by more than a run. Their bats should get to Marquez and Eflin should fare well against a mediocre Colorado lineup. His skills to date are stronger than his inflated ERA would suggest. Back the PHILLIES -1.5 (+130).

Over/Under

The total has gone over in two of three starts for each of these pitchers and the line is set a little too low today. A small play on OVER 7.5 (-130) looks like the way to go.
