The Carolina Hurricanes and the Toronto Maple Leafs meet in Scotiabank Arena on Monday night.

The Carolina Hurricanes will try to keep their momentum going after a 2-1 win over San Jose last time out. Sebastian Aho leads the ‘Canes in scoring with 45 points while Teuvo Teravainen has 32 points and Andrei Svechnikov has 38, with Aho logging a team-high 19 goals and 26 assists while Svechnikov has 22 assists and Teravainen has 21 assists as well. Tony DeAngelo’s got 33 points with 26 assists and the aforementioned Teravainen has a team-high +16 plus/minus rating this season.  Frederik Andersen’s seen the bulk of the action in goal for Carolina, going 24-6 with a 2.01 GAA and a .928 save percentage this season.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will try to build on a 7-1 win over New Jersey in their last matchup. Auston Matthews leads the Buds in scoring with 51 points including a team-high 29 goals while John Tavares also has 40 points with 17 goals and 22 assists. William Nylander’s also got 40 points with 17 goals and 23 assists. Morgan Rielly has a team-high 33 assists on the year. Jack Campbell’s made the bulk of the starts in goal for Toronto, going 21-6-3 with a 2.30 GAA and a .925 save percentage this season.

Carolina is 4-0 in their last 4 games as an underdog and 5-1 in their last 6 games against the Atlantic division while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record. Toronto is 27-8 in their last 35 games overall and 21-8 in their last 29 games while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games following a win.

I get the case to be made either way here, but these are two teams with solid goaltending despite strong offensive outputs. I just look at this game and think it’s 3-2 at best whichever way you slice it, so give me the under.
