The New Jersey Devils and Ottawa Senators meet Monday in NHL action at the Canadian Tire Centre. The New Jersey Devils look to snap a six-game losing streak. The Ottawa Senators need a win after losing six of their last nine games.

The New Jersey Devils are averaging 2.8 goals per game and are scoring on 16.3 percent of their power play opportunities. Jesper Bratt leads New Jersey with 14 goals, Nico Hischier has 16 assists and Dougie Hamilton has 108 shots on goal. Defensively, the New Jersey Devils are allowing 3.5 goals per game and are killing 82 percent of their opponent’s power plays. Jonathan Bernier has allowed 26 goals on 264 shots faced, and Mackenzie Blackwood has allowed 70 goals on 663 shots.

The Ottawa Senators are averaging 2.7 goals per game and are scoring on 18.5 percent of their power play opportunities. Defensively, the Ottawa Senators are allowing 3.4 goals per game and are killing 80.3 percent of their opponent’s power plays. The Devils are 7-24 in their last 31 road games and 21-47 in their last 68 overall. The Senators are 5-12 in their last 17 home games and 12-25 in their last 37 overall. The over is 12-3 in Devils last 15 road games. The under is 7-0 in Senators last 7 overall. The underdog is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings.

I’m not running to the window to back either of these teams, and who knows what the break does for either side. What we do know is the New Jersey Devils have been fade material on the road dating back to last season, and they haven’t had much success against even losing teams. The Ottawa Senators have their issues, but at least they’re at home here. If forced to pick, give me the Senators at home and the cheap juice.
