A huge night of NBA action to close out February saw the Cleveland Cavaliers and LA Lakers keep their win streaks going.
A round-up of the NBA action from February 28…
Cleveland Cavaliers win in Boston
The Cleveland Cavaliers are undefeated since adding De’Andre Hunter at the trade deadline, and faced their biggest test yet against the defending champions Boston Celtics.
The Cavs went to TD Garden and won, with Donovan Mitchell putting up 41 points. Even though he was outscored by Jayson Tatum’s 46, the Cavs ran away with it with a 28-18 fourth quarter burst.
Boston had come out hot with a 25-3 start – but they were overhauled by a Cavaliers team determined to make a statement.
Donovan Mitchell’s 41 was followed by Darius Garland’s 20 and Evan Mobley with 17. The 49-10 Cavs are now on a nine-game win streak.
Luka Doncic propels LA Lakers win
Luka Doncic (31) and LeBron James (28) combined for 59 points to lead the LA Lakers to a 106-102 win at the LA Clippers.
The pair were the only Lakers stars to reach double figures with Austin Reaves limited to 6 points. Dalton Knecht added 8 from the bench.
This was the second time Doncic has surpassed 30 points since being traded to the Lakers, who move to 37-21 with a five-game win streak, the best active run in the Western Conference.
Nuggets end Pistons win streak
Another notable results saw the Detroit Pistons eight-game win streak come to an end, defeated by the Denver Nuggets.
Jamal Murray led the scoring with a 31 point display, with the Nuggets issuing an important reminder of their competitive credentials, winning eight of their last 10.
